The Ottomans relied on the Mamluk horses; So the Mamluks kept it. It seems that the Mamluk beys retained remnants of their customs related to horses. The arrival of the Ottoman governor to Cairo to take power was accompanied by a great celebration, as the governor was walking in his large procession, which included thousands of knights with their horses, and pedestrians in their traditional official attire. The procession began with Bulaq after the arrival of the governor’s ship, then crossed the streets of Cairo, until it reached the citadel.
