Sahl Ibn al-Handhaliya narrated that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “The one who spends on horses in the way of God is like the one who stretches out his hands in charity and does not catch it.” Narrated by Ahmad, and Al-Albani in Sahih Al-Jami.
And on the authority of Qays al-Taghlibi – and he was sitting with Abu al-Darda’, may God be pleased with him in Damascus — that he was a man of the companions of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and it was said to him: Ibn al-Hazliyah al-Ansari, and when they were satisfied with him, he was satisfied with the people. Glorying, chanting, and glorifying until his family comes. He said: One day he passed us while we were sitting with Abu al-Darda’, so he greeted. Abu al-Darda’ said to him: A word that benefits God and does not harm you. He said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was sent. The gathering in which the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was, and he said to a man beside him: If you had seen us when we met the enemy, and so-and-so stabbed so-and-so, then he said: Take her and I am the Ghaffari boy, how do you see? He said: I do not see anything but that his reward has been nullified. Another said: I do not see anything wrong with that. They disputed about that until the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, heard it and said: Glory be to God! There is nothing wrong with being praised and rewarded, he said: Abu al-Darda’ was pleased with that, and he started saying: Did you hear this from the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him? He said: So he started saying: Yes, I would even say while raising his head to him: That he may be on his knees. He said: Then another day passed by us, and he greeted. Abu al-Darda’ said to him: A word that works for him. In the way of God is like the one who stretches his hands in alms and does not hold it. He said: Then another day passed by us, and he greeted. Abu al-Darda’ said to him: A word that benefits us and does not harm you. He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said. : So that reached Khuraim. So he took a blade, and cut his hair – its bundle – to the middle of his ears, and he raised his lower garment to the half of his legs, and he said: Then another day passed by us, and he greeted him. Tomorrow on your brothers; So fix your saddles, and fix your clothes; So that you will be like a mole among the people. God does not like obscenity or obscenity.
It was included by Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani in Al-Amali Al-Mutlaqa, and it is a good hadith.
Ibn Abbas said that the verse: “Those who spend their money by night and day, secretly and openly, will have their reward with their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor will they grieve” It was revealed about the fodder of horses tied for the sake of God.
