On the authority of Asma bint Abi Bakr – may God be pleased with them both: She said:
“Al-Zubayr married me, and he had neither money nor possessions on the land, and nothing but his horse, – and in a narration: not fertile, and other than his horse –
She said: I used to feed his horse and take his provisions, so I feed him, draw water, remove his west, and knead, but I did not do well to bake. Peace be upon my head, and it is on two-thirds of a farsach,… She said: Until Abu Bakr after that sent me a servant, and the care of the horse was removed from me, as it was as if he had freed me.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

And in a narration, she said: “I used to serve al-Zubayr for the house service, and he owned a horse, and I used to take care of him, and there was nothing more difficult for me in serving than taking care of a horse.
She said: Then she appointed a servant, and the Prophet – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – came into captivity, and he gave her a servant. She said: The care of the horse was lifted from me, and she threw its provisions away from me.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
