In front of Muhammad Ali Pasha’s interest in horses, spending generously on them, and producing Egyptian horses that succeeded in purebred Arabian horses, the statesmen were interested in acquiring horses, and we mention among them:
Hikmat Pasha
Hikmat Pasha, the Minister of War, bought antique Najd horses, and had a stable of about 400 horses.
Khorshid Pasha
Khorshid Pasha was interested in horse breeding, and established a stable for horse breeding and caring for them in Imbaba. When he died in 1832 AD, more than 200 horses were found in his stable.
Abbas Pasha’s second manuscript confirms that the horses of Khorshid Pasha are all from Najd, and were distinguished by their beauty. There were more than 150 horses collected from Syria, Hejaz, Yemen, Iraq and Bahrain. Fahd Al-Daham Al-Duweesh gave him a red mare Bint Kahilan from purebred horses, and he took from “Mashreq bin Urayer” owner of Al-Hasa, a yellow and low mare, and I owned other horses.
It was narrated from him, related to horse news, that when he was the ruler of Najd, some Englishmen who were concerned with horses attended one day, and they submitted a proposal to set up a race between their horses and Arab horses.
And Khorshid Pasha agreed, although this was a matter of irony, and the irony increased when the English horses prepared for racing retreated from the front, and the Najd horses preceded them. Looking forward to another race.
